Improving the Job Seeking Experience at Interior Health

UX/UI Case Study

Case Overview.

Due to COVID-19, Interior Health (IH) faced a shortage of health care staff. To improve recruitment efforts, the IH careers website needs an update to improve the job-seeking experience.

Therefore, a redesign of the jobs website was recommended.

To provide a smooth job-seeking experience and increase apply click rates by improving navigation, site functionality, and content.

Problems with the Current Experience.

Through discovery sessions with stakeholders, including recruiters and recent hires (previous job-seekers), the following pain points were identified:

1) Messy Navigation.

For example:

  • Vague naming conventions in menu items.

  • No direct login page for job seekers to apply.

2) Frustrating Flow.

For example:

  • The lack of a "login" button on the home page forced job seekers to search the same jobs twice just to reach a login page.

3) Too Many Clicks.

For example:

  • Takes too many clicks for a candidate to reach the "Apply" CTA button.

4) Lackluster Visual Design.

For example:

  • Two sticky navigations created the illusion of cramped space making it difficult to read the content.
